The picture to the left was taken with an endoscopic straight telescope that was inserted into the right sphenoid sinus through the right nasal cavity.
The mucocele is an expanding cyst lined with mucous membrane. As it grows, it displaces the surrounding bony wall of the sphenoid sinus.
The sella turcica which.contains the pituitary gland forms part of the roof of the sphenoid sinus.
